How Can I Organize My Closet?

In this busy world we live in it is often difficult to keep our homes in the neat, orderly fashion we would like. Many couples consist of two people working out of the home, often at more than 40 hours per week apiece. With this huge amount of time spent at work, our families and children need as much of our time at home as possible. We can find fast food to eat quickly and beauty salons with no waiting. We can carry our cell phones and our Blackberry’s with us wherever we go. We can even join an exercise club that promises great results in as little as 30 minutes. The thing we cannot avoid, however, is what we hide behind closed doors—closed closet doors that is!

Often, lurking behind our closet doors is a disorganized, chaotic mess. We have a difficult time finding what we want, because there is just not enough space for all that we own. If you find yourself sorting through piles of shoes or sifting through everything in the closet to find that little black dress, then what you need is a closet organizer. While there are professionals that can come to your home to organize your closet, it can be much less expensive to buy a closet organizer kit and best of all, with a closet organizer kit you can have your closet de-cluttered and fabulous in no time at all.

With a closet organizer kit, you can purchase all the parts you need, including the hardware, and install it yourself. There are closet organizer kits for every need, every closet, every budget and every level of installation skill- or lack thereof!! Look through your closet and determine what components you need before you shop for a closet organizer kit. Do you have a lot of shoes? Then a shoe organizer is a good place to begin. Count up the pairs and make a note of it. Next on the list- belts and ties. Searching for that just-right belt can be a thing of the past. A belt and tie rack keeps everything in one place for easy selection. Put it on your list. How many shelves do you have room for in your closet? Sweaters, purses, and bed linens all need a place to call home. Make sure your shelving space will accommodate them. Hanging rods are a basic component in any bedroom closet. You can double your hanging space by using two rods that are at different heights. List the number of shelves and the length and number of hanging rods you desire. With this list, it is easy to make sure your closet organizing kit includes all the components that you want to make your closet just right for you.

Be sure to measure the closet before you shop for the organizing kit. Measure the height of the closet, the width and also the depth of the closet. You will also want to be sure that you have a hammer, a screwdriver (electric is great!) and a small drill. If the closet organizer kit that you purchased has brackets that are attached directly to the walls of your closet, you will want to be sure that you locate the studs in the wall and attach the brackets to these. Another option, if you can’t find the studs, is to use rubber anchors to set the screws into to prevent them from pulling out of the wall. These little rubber lifesavers are probably included with the hardware in your closet organizing kit, but double check to be sure.

Your closet organizer kit will probably have easy to follow directions included. They are generally very specific and follow a step-by-step format. Read them through before you begin installing your closet organizer to make sure you have all the tools you need and that you can understand them thoroughly. Within an hour or two, utilizing a good closet organizing kit, you will have a brand new closet that will do justice to your wardrobe and save you some much needed time in your day.

You may still work 40 plus hours a week and you may need your cell phone at all times, but with the right closet organizer kit, you will save time every morning and every evening. No longer will anything need to hide behind your closet doors.
